Devils backbone11/11/2022 ![]() ![]() ![]() Aftertaste is mild with some noticeable blueberries that are more tart and sour than sweet, with some wheat notes as well that lead to a dash of yeastie, breadie and dough-like notes. Light-bodied Relatively mild wheat and pale malt notes show at first with some noticeable sweet blueberries that seem more artificial than real, with a light dash of spice of coriander seed and curacao here, but the wheat is pungent here as well, providing, if nothing else, a smooth easy-drinking layer throughout this one. Aroma of light blueberries, some wheat, a dash of canned corn and a hint of slightly acidic and tart candy. ![]() Light golden and soft amber coloured body with a thinnish, off-white coloured head. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Pentagon Row), Virginia on 04-July-2021 for US$1,87 sampled at my house here in Washington.ģ Devils Backbone Loved By the Sun (Blueberry) Overall, a dry and fruity beer that has a decently nice balance and a little bit of malty complexity at the end, and while there was no passionfruit here at ll to speak of, there was a light guava and mango component, but the fruitiness was a lot less strong than I was expecting. Aftertaste is fairly sweet with some light tropical fruit notes here, but the dry biscuity and wheatie malts seem to overpower that, and also some light salty flavours do show at the very end. Light to Medium-bodied Funky and artificial fruit flavours show at first with a bit of guava and mangoes here along with some odd caster sugar sweetness and a dose of soft brine and more mellow wheat/malt notes here that are easy-drinking and leave a soft flavour, especially at the end. Aroma of light tropical fruit notes with some light papaya and mango noticeable and a sliver of guava, but no passionfruit notes in the nose nor anything tart or soured at all. Very clear golden and just barely amber coloured body with a copper glow and a very thinnish, single centimetre tall off-white head with some larger bubbles that dies quickly. Overall, a pretty nice, super fruity/tangeriney beer that has more of a Tang note and artificial aspect than anything real or fresh, but nice throughout and perhaps the fakeness actually works out in it's favor! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Trader Joe's in Falls Church (Bailey's Crossroads, Skyline), Virginia on 25-August-2022 for US$1,84 sampled a few weeks later in my hotel room here in Reston, Virginia on 04-October-2022.Ģ.7 Devils Backbone Loved By the Sun (Guava, Passionfruit) Aftertaste is crisp from the tangerines, but fairly easy drinking with a nice balance of malt and hops, but even better balance of sugars and alcohol that is noticeable, but not cloying nor too strong. #Devils backbone full#Medium-bodied Strong rich tangerines and full oranges come through at first with a big bite of candy sweetness and tropical sugars right behind and a light, but noticeable hop bitterness here that hits well at the end. Aroma of pure Tang (tangerine) powder, like when you shake the can a lot and open the lid to get the mix really in the air, but there is a lot of hops in here as well, all with a big citrus component and a nice malt and wheat note from the malt bill that seems on the easier-to-drink side, but supportive, at least. Super hazy (of course) straw coloured body with a lighter golden glow and a very large, super thick, eight to nine centimetre tall just off-white head that covers the beer for a long time and eventually fades down. ![]()
